After an amazing pilot year in 2017, we are so excited that this program is returning for its second year.

The 2019 program is a dedicated space for young trans women and femmes aged 16-29 that are BIPOC (women and non-binary people of trans feminine experience who are also Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Colour) to develop creation and performance skills in an affirming environment.

Led by playwright, performer, and devised theatre facilitator Bilal Baig, participants will learn how to tell their stories in a variety of ways (poetry, multimedia, monologue/dialogue, dance/movement, etc) and create theatre in an ensemble. Our focus will be to amplify our own unique voices in the process while creating a performance piece that is grounded in collaboration, truth and fun!

The program consists of 7 workshops, and will culminate in a final performance as part of the 40th annual Rhubarb Festival at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre on Thursday, February 21, 2019 (You are still welcome to apply to the workshop series even if you may not wish to perform publicly).
